An aseptic variant of the electroPioreactor.
Our original electroPioreactor was designed to cultivate mixed environmental cultures. To minimise ease of use and cost, there was no great desire to make it aseptic. The chances are if anything grows in an electroPioreactor with only H2 for energy and only CO2 for carbon, it’s something that we want to grow.
That’s not the case if you’re using model organisms or any sort of monoculture. You need to keep it aseptic (free from contamination by other microbes), so it must be sterilisable (ideally autoclavable) and protected by seals and filters.
You can do everything that an electroPioreactor can do with an Aseptic electroPioreactor, but you’ll struggle to grow monocultures or do other aseptic work in a non-aseptic electroPioreactor.
